2022: Year in Review

We are a banking-as-a-service platform that allows organisations to offer simple financial products to their customers in a compliant manner.

It’s been an exciting year for us at Anchor, and we could not have done it without you - our customers, partners and investors. Thank you for supporting our goal to build the default banking-as-a-service & embedded finance platform for Africa.

This year has been a roller coaster with a lot more ups than downs. We couldn’t have asked for a better first year of operations.

So far, we’ve focused on building the foundational blocks upon which the future of financial products in Africa will be built.

In the new year, we will be consolidating on that base. As we reflect on the year, here are some key milestones from 2022.

• Private & public beta launch (KYC/KYB, accounts, money movement, etc)
• Crossed $3m+ in monthly transactions
• Closed two funding rounds (pre-seed announced)
• Signed on 82 businesses
• Partnered with four banks
• Got accepted into Y Combinator and CDL-Oxford Fintech program
• Grew the team to 14 people
• We got featured on reputable media platforms like Techcrunch, Yahoo Finance, Finextra, etc

OyaMakeWeGroove

The team was at the recently held event ‘Oya make we groove’. It was an opportunity for the team to network and connect with startups in the tech ecosystem.

Techpoint Fintech Summit

Earlier in the month, Segun was at the Techpoint Fintech Summit and shared an interesting perspective on the power of embedded finance and how it offers businesses the opportunity to offer a wide range of financial products targeted at different segments of their customers.

Company Retreat

We had our first retreat and members of the team discussed how to better serve our customers and partners in the coming year. It was a good refreshing and bonding time for the team.
